Traditional V-shaped satin stole in various colors to indicate course, faculty or degree. This v-stole shape is often used to mark special awards within the respective field (e.g. Doctoral Degree / Master).
 
This type of stole is worn over the shoulder like a classic hood. The shorter side is at the front, the longer at the back.
